APRIL update

Good afternoon Solihull,

As promised, a monthly round up of some of things we got up to in the month of April in regards to bring offenders to justice for Burglary, Robbery and Vehicle Crime.

At the beginning of April, officers from the team were in court to see a suspect's sentencing, he had been charged with 4 burglaries initially and admitted to a further 7, he has been sentenced with three and a half years in prison.

You may remember from last months update that we arrested and charged four males in regards to an armed robbery that happened at Birmingham Airport in March, at the beginning of April we arrested and remanded a fifth male with which CPS also charged him with Robbery. Two of these offenders have already offered a guilty plea which is great news but officers continue to work on the file to prepare for trial for the rest of the offenders.

We arrested a juvenile who had been identified as a suspect for two robberies in Solihull Town Centre at the end of 2023, he was interviewed with which he admitted to both incidents and is now being dealt with by our youth offending teams.

At the end of last week we arrested two males from South Birmingham who had broken into a house on Stockwell Rise, Elmdon and beat up a vulnerable occupant before stealing his cash, phone and car, the vehicle was then dumped on Solihull High Street. These males were identified through CCTV enquiries with which they both remain in custody after several charges were authorised by CPS including robbery and aggravated vehicle taking, in addition to charges a deportation order has been produced for one of the suspect.

On Monday 29th April, officers arrested a juvenile for robbery and shop theft offences in Shirley with which in total he had taken around £2000 worth of stock from shops, he was charged for several offences.

The team also conducted pro-active patrols in which we changed our shift pattern to a night shift to be able to be in hot-spot areas for vehicle crime.

We have plenty planned this month and look forward to updating you next month!

Kind regards
