What we have been doing recently.

Hello, and welcome to your round up from the St Matthew’s Neighbourhood Policing Team. Keeping the different communities in St Matthew’s informed of just some of the activities that we have done recently.

Some things that we have been doing on our patch:

On Tuesday, PCSO’s from the team patrolled around Chuckery. They were pleased to visit a warden managed apartment building, were they attended a regular residents meeting which is run by a group of elderly vulnerable adults living in the building.  The group openly shared issues of concern about their neighbourhood and community around them.  The residents were happy to receive Policing reassurance and advice from the PCSO’s which will help them with the issues that they raised.

In Walsall Town Centre, the PCSO’s from the team have conducted another monthly ‘drop in’ surgery with no specific agenda at the Community Transport hub at St Paul’s Bus station.  Members of the commuting public dropped in and discussed issues that concern them from their own communities, as well as those in St Matthews.  Good engagement and much discussion on different police related subject matters for the PCSO’s to action as appropriate. Along side this, PC's and PCSO's have increased hi-visibility patrols in the town centre and reassuring businesses. The Arboretum has also gained an increase of PCSO presence this week,  PCSO's have also tackled underage drinking in the town centre, and addressed concerns of begging at traffic lights, helping to keep the level of anti-social behaviour down.

PC's have been working in partnership with trading standards tacking illegal cigarettes and vapes in Caldmore, and PC's have made multiple arrests for shop thefts in the town centre.

Going forward:

A drop in surgery will be held next week by PCSO's in Co op, Walsall town centre on Tuesday, feel free to pop by and say hello. PC's will also be continuing partnership work with trading standards.
