Would you like to Join our Independent Advisory Group? We need you!

Dear Resident

Would you like to Join our Independent Advisory Group? (IAG) We need you!

What is an IAG? An IAG is a self-governing group of volunteers from our community who provide independent advice to the Police with the aim of improving the quality of Policing services.

• Provide feedback and guidance on the style and tone of policing and how this is perceived within communities across Birmingham

• Advise local policing on community tensions and concerns

• Support the local policing response to significant issues and critical incidents by sharing feedback on community tensions and sharing key messages with community networks

• Provide feedback on local policing policy and strategy

• Reassure the community that through the IAG the voice of all communities are represented through regular meetings with local policing leaders to build trust and confidence.

Who? We want people who reflect the composition of our communities, and have an interest in Birmingham West & Central (Perry Barr, Lozells, Handsworth & Oscott – Aston, Small Heath, Nechells & Highgate - City Centre – Winson Green, Ladywood, Soho Road & Jewellery Quarter).

We encourage interest from people who are already involved with, and part of, community groups and associations. When & Where? Members meet online or face to face every two months.

There may be times when the chair directs members to meet to tackle an emerging issue. This is only in exceptional circumstances.

If you have any interest please reply using the reply button below. I can then provide you with more information.

I look forward to hearing from you.
