Two arrests after machete and stolen car seized in Sandwell

We've made two arrests after recovering a machete and a stolen car following prompt police work in Sandwell.

We traced the Ford Focus just over an hour after it was reported stolen from Smethwick yesterday afternoon (9 June).

After discovering the car off Blakeley Hall Road, Oldbury, two people attempted to run off from officers at around 4pm.

They were quickly detained and a subsequent search of the vehicle led to a machete being seized.

A 16-year-old boy and a man aged 21 have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor

vehicle and possession of a knife. They remain in police custody for questioning.

Knives can destroy lives and we're working alongside partners to help get weapons off the streets.

We also know the impact of vehicle crime on our communities, it can impact on the daily routines of families and livelihoods.

This is why we carry out regular activity to arrest suspects.
