Good afternoon Resident We carried out high visibility foot patrols in Walsall town centre and arrested a man wanted on suspicion of an assault as well as seizing cannabis from another man. The patrols were carried out on Friday afternoon and included officers from our St Matthew’s team as well as our Priority Crime Team. During the operation we stopped and searched seven people. We arrested a 48-year-old man who was wanted on suspicion of an assault. We also stopped and searched a 32-year-old man and found he was carrying a small amount of cannabis. We referred him to the drugs support service Cranstoun where he can receive help and support. PC Courtney Tongue, St Matthew’s neighbourhood policing oifficer, said: “This was another successful operation with seven people stopped, one man wanted on recall for prison arrested and another man referred to Cranstoun after we discovered cannabis on him. “We will continue to run this operations targeting criminal behaviour in hotspot areas in the town centre and offering reassurance to members of the public visiting Walsall.” | ||||
