    Crime prevention

  • Please consider purchasing a steering wheel lock for your vehicle. This will decrease the chances of your vehicle being targeted by offenders. Also remember to double check that your vehicle is locked, before leaving it unattended. Installing an immobiliser and covert tracking device will also increase the chance of getting your vehicle back should it be stolen.
  • As the darker nights set in and colder mornings approach, please make sure that you don’t leave your vehicle unattended when defrosting your windscreen. This can make the vehicle a very easy target for passing thieves, and you won’t be insured for the theft if you’ve left the vehicle insecure.
  • Consider installing anti-snap locks to all external windows and doors on your home. This will make it more difficult for potential burglars to gain access to your home. Installing a monitored burglar alarm is also a great deterrent.

    Good news

  • Home Office funding is provided to West Midlands Police to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime in areas that are identified as having a high rate of these incidents. As a result, local officers have been conducting targeted patrols in these locations, with the aim of providing a visible presence, engaging with the local community and deterring this type of behaviour. When your local Officers are off duty, these patrols are conducted by policing teams from other areas, ensuring that there is continual coverage. Officers record the results of these patrols and the information is then returned to the home office. Your local officers have been hard at work conducting these patrols, so please feel welcome to have a chat when you see us.
  • Officers from the Shirley Neighbourhood Policing Team have arrested two prolific shoplifters that are responsible for multiple thefts all over the Shirley area. One has been charged with 24 offences, and the other has been arrested for 15 offences.
  • Officers from the Shirley Neighbourhood Policing Team have arrested a young person who is responsible for causing a nuisance on an off-road bike.
  • Due to a high number of reports of anti-social behaviour in Parkgate and Shirley Park, officers have increased their patrols in the area. This has led to the identification of offenders who have been advised in relation to this behaviour.

    Dates for your diary

  • Saturday 26th October 2024 between 12:00pm and 14:00pm: Our local officers will be holding a beat surgery at The Royal British Legion Shirley, 186 Stratford Road, B90 3BQ. This gives you a great opportunity to meet members of your local policing team and discuss any policing issues that are affecting you in the Shirley area.
