What’s happening in St Michael’s Neighbourhood Team 2
It’s definitely been a successful week for us against the shoplifters in Coventry!! With the ongoing support and communication from CV ONE retail shops/store detectives and member of the public 4 offenders were arrested and charged. CCTV (Coventry Communication Centre) consists of 309 public space cameras that have been strategically positions within Coventry City Centre. The system is monitor 24/7 by dedicated trained staff. Gentle nudge to offenders to think twice – there really isn’t many locations out of view!!
DON’T LET BAG THIEVES SPOIL YOUR FUN THIS CHRISTMAS As Christmas gets into full swing, and people get ready to hit the shops or celebrate in the evening its important to keep an eye on personal belongings. Wallet/purse thefts traditionally increase on the run up to Christmas, especially in busy markets, hotels and eateries. When carrying a handbag if possible carry your bag cross body and put your coat over it, always ensure the bag is closed. Always carry your wallet and phone in front pockets or secure pockets in a coat, this deters pick pockets. Carrying expensive items in back pockets makes it much easier for someone to steal.
We have also continued our mobile foot patrols in and around Millennium Place and Pool Meadow Bus Station. Anti-social behaviour in a public place/community is not acceptable and we will continue to disrupt and address this behaviour at every opportunity. This may result in a ‘CPN’ Community Protection Notice being issued against the offender which if ignore could result in sanctions against the individual.
We have taken multiple vehicles off the road this week, the theme here being vehicle declaration of SORN (Statuary Off Road Notification). If your vehicle is SORN then it cannot be parked or driven on a public road – failure to adhere to GOV.UK - SORN guidance will result in you losing your vehicle as two motorist this week have found out to their downfall.
