As the festive season is fast approaching we have 12 tips for Christmas….

1 - Don't put your presents under the tree until the last possible moment

2 - When you go shopping, don't leave any valuables on display in your vehicle

3 - Don't leave your car engine running whilst your vehicle is unattended or leaving it to defrost alone

4 - Don't drink & drive if you have had to much to drink, think about getting a taxi

5 - If you are out, close your curtains and use a timer device / app to switch on your lights after dark

6 - If you are going away ask a friend or relative to take in your post

7 - Check all doors / windows are securely locked when going out or away

8 - Be aware when out shopping keeping your wallet close and handbags closer and be aware of pickpockets this time of the year

9 - Be aware when using cash machines and who is around you and don't be distracted by anyone whilst using them

10 - It may be nice to check on elderly neighbours 

11 - Mark your postcode onto new presents with a UV pen, note down any serial number and register them at www.immobilise.com if they are ever stolen, you're more likely to get them back 

12 - Break down and wrap up or recycle packaging from expensive Christmas items so potential burglars cannot see what new goods you have received for Christmas
