Without the PIN number the car won’t start so if thieves do gain access to your vehicle they won’t be able to drive off. Please consider purchasing a steering wheel lock for your vehicle. This will decrease the chances of your vehicle being targeted by offenders. Also remember to double check that your vehicle is locked, before leaving it unattended. Installing an immobiliser and covert tracking device will also increase the chance of getting your vehicle back should it be stolen. Please do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Some thieves can be opportunistic trying door handles to see if they are unlocked or looking inside the vehicle for valuables or break the windows to check the car.Consider installing an audible car alarm in case your vehicle is tampered with. Please install anti-tamper screws on your number plates to make it more difficult for thievesWith the darker nights and mornings, please make sure you’re aware of your surroundings when out and about and try to stick to well-lit routes. If you are ever approached by someone that you don’t know, never follow them if asked to do so.With the darker nights and colder mornings, please make sure that you don’t leave your vehicle unattended when defrosting your windscreen. This can make the vehicle a very easy target for passing thieves, and you won’t be insured for the theft if you’ve left the vehicle insecure. Consider installing anti-snap locks to all external windows and doors on your home. This will make it more difficult for potential burglars to gain access to your home. Installing a monitored burglar alarm is also a great deterrent.
