Wyken On Wednesday the 5th of February our team conducted another Speedwatch operation on Clifford Bridge Road and Brinklowe Road, various drivers were given words of advice and one was also arrested for being disqualified.
We have also seized a vehicle in the Westmorland Road estate for not having valid tax - Should you observe any vehicles that raise your concerns, such as those lacking valid tax while being on the road, please inform us, and we will investigate the issue. A Streetwatch group is also forming around the Dorchester Way area, more details about this will follow below.
Upper Stoke As Valentine's Day approaches, there has been a noticeable increase in shop thefts. Our team has been actively conducting patrols in the Ball Hill area, particularly around Walsgrave, close to Greggs and the Two Tone Cafe.
We are also monitoring and addressing the presence of shoplifters and homeless individuals near the Iceland and Lidl on Binley Road. Whenever feasible, we strive to offer guidance and support to those who are experiencing homelessness.
Lower Stoke Reports concerning off-road vehicles in the green spaces surrounding Lindfield continue to be received. We are consistently integrating intelligence into our systems. However, it is important to note that we are unable to safely pursue these vehicles off-road.
While we do have dedicated off-road teams available for such situations, we must first conduct a risk assessment before any pursuit can take place. In the meantime, we encourage members of the public to report any suspicious activity to us via 101 or our online chat. This will assist us in constructing a more comprehensive understanding of the situation, including identifying locations where these vehicles may be stored and recognising the individuals operating them.
Arrests – The Stoke & Wyken neighbourhood team has made four arrests this week. One of these arrests occurred during our Speedwatch Operation on Clifford Bridge Road/Brinklowe Road, where an individual was apprehended for driving while disqualified.
Additionally, one person was arrested for shop theft, while two others were arrested for driving with possession of Class C drugs.

General info – A Streetwatch group is developing in the Dorchester Way area, where our committed community members are dedicating two hours each month to patrol their local area. They will identify and report any issues to the Police and will be accompanied by Officers at various times during their patrols. If you are interested in establishing a group of your own, please reach out to Sam.odell@westmidlands.police.uk.
We are also seeking public assistance for our Community Speedwatch program. Volunteers will receive training to operate a basic speed laser. Following a risk assessment of a road, they will monitor vehicle speeds with Officers and those exceeding the limits will receive letters addressing their driving behaviour. We are only able to have a maximum of five members of the community at one time when undertaking a Community Speedwatch Operation..
Please feel free to send us a message via WMnow for more information regarding this.
Kind Regards, The Stoke & Wyken Neighbourhood Policing Team | ||||
