Update from the Springfield neighbourhood policing team

Dear Resident,

Here’s a quick round up from me and the rest of the Springfield neighbourhood policing team.

What’s been happening

  • Trading Standards Operation. Officers have taken part in further joint operations with Trading Standards targeting the illegal sale of cigarettes, vapes and nitrous oxide. We know that residents are rightly concerned about the illegal use of nitrous oxide and streets being littered with these canisters. We will be continuing our work with Trading Standards and Birmingham City Council over the coming weeks and months.
  • Warrants. Thanks to intelligence you have provided, officers from the team took part in a number of a warrants across the constituency last week where large quantities of class A drugs were recovered and suspects taken into custody. Please continue to provide intelligence to us directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
  • Update on burglaries. We know there has been significant concern in the community regarding the recent spate of burglaries, particularly before the Christmas period. We are pleased to inform residents that a significant arrest was made this week resulting in a male being charged with a total of 12 offences.
  •

    Events

PC Javid and I held a drop-in at Sparkhill Leisure Centre on Sunday 26th January. We had some great interactions with residents and will be announcing another event in the near future. If you were unable to attend and wish to raise any non-urgent issues or concerns, please email us at Springfield@westmidlands.police.uk.

PC Connelly and PC Shahabi delivered a crime prevention workshop in January at the Sufi Abdullah Foundation where dozens of people attended and obtained valuable advice on safeguarding their homes and property. We were able to distribute crime prevention freebies which were well received. Thanks for having us.

    Finally, A big thanks to

All the residents of Grove Road and Nansen Road who attended the recent residents meeting held at St. John’s Church. It was a great opportunity to hear concerns first hand and be able to meet with partners from Birmingham City Council as we look for joint solutions to some of the issues raised.

Please continue to look out for further updates from the team on our X (formerly twitter) page @springfieldWMP
