Attempted burglary on St James Place

Friday 4th April 2025

Dear resident

An attempted burglary has been reported in your neighbourhood.

If you saw or heard anything or have any information about the below incident please call our non emergency number 101, quoting the reference number provided.

Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

Reference: 20/196459/25.
Location: St James Place, Shirley.
Date and time:  At 02:43am on Wednesday 2nd April 2025.
Details: A male opened the porch door to a property on St James Place. He then unsuccessfully tried to open the front door before walking away.

Officers from your local neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting high visibility patrols in the area in a bid to prevent further offences and try to catch offenders.

Where possible please make sure house alarms are set when the property is vacant or when you go to bed and decent motion activated lighting and CCTV cameras are set up at the front and rear of your property. Installing anti-snap locks at the front and rear of your house will also reduce the chance of your house being targeted.
