Here is your quick round up from me and the rest of the Sherbourne neighbourhood policing team.

Dear Resident,
Here is your quick round up from me and the rest of the Sherbourne neighbourhood policing team.

What’s been happening?

This week has been a very busy week for our team. We started the week on a joint operation with the ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) team across our wards. The streets were patrolled by force vehicles fitted with ANPR technology looking for vehicles involved in crime or committing other motoring offences. As a result of the patrols a number of vehicles were seized including the vehicle in the photo which the ANPR system flagged as having no vehicle tax since September 2024. The vehicle was seized by officers and recovered with help from our recovery agent.

Our PCSOs have been out conducting a speedwatch on roads within our wards. Speeding remains a concern often expressed by our community members.

Two of our officers located this Citroen whilst on patrols which was displaying different number plates from the number plates which the vehicle should be displaying. The vehicle was displaying Bulgarian number plates however the vehicle was a British registered vehicle. The owner had put different number plates on the vehicle in an attempt to hide the vehicles true identity. Further checks on the vehicle using the vehicles VIN number showed that the vehicle had no Tax, no MOT and no Insurance. The vehicle was subsequently seized.

This BMW was also seized after two of our PCSOs located the vehicle parked up in the car park of a small housing estate with damage and appeared to be parked out of place. Checks were made on the number plate which the vehicle was displaying but the details did not match the Police national computer as the VIN (vehicle identification number) was different. Further checks on that VIN showed the correct details and the vehicle was showing as in trade with no Tax, MOT or Insurance. The vehicle was seized.

Our officers have also been out this week on proactive arrest attempts for outstanding offenders for offences within our wards.

As a result of these attempts two males were arrested for their parts in a shoplifting offence worth £350. The two males were located at separate addresses and arrested by the officers. The males have been charged and will appear in court.

Another male was arrested for a theft offence from a person. The male who stole a wallet from a member of the public was arrested, interviewed and charged with the offence. Officers were able to get information from the male as to where he had disposed of the wallet and its contents. This information was passed to a couple of our PCSOs who were able to attend the location and locate the wallet. As a result, the wallet and its contents were returned to the owner.

Finally we have also attended some community engagement events this week with PCSOs delivering crime prevention advice to groups of young persons.
