Attempted theft of a vehicle on Berry Maud Lane

Thursday 29th May 2025

Dear resident,

An attempted car theft has been reported in your neighbourhood.

If you saw or heard anything or have any information about the below incident please call our non-emergency number 101, quoting the reference number provided.

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

Reference: 20/253689/25.
Location: Berry Maud Lane, Shirley.
Date and time: Between 00:50am and 01:00am on the 27/05/2025.
Details: Three individuals wearing balaclavas used a relay device to try to steal a blue Hyundai I30. The car was fitted with a ghost immobiliser and the individuals were therefore unable to take the vehicle so left in a blue BMW.

Officers from your local neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting high visibility patrols in the area in a bid to prevent further offences and try to catch offenders. PLEASE CONSIDER INSTALLING A STEERING WHEEL LOCK ON YOUR VEHICLE, AS THIS CAN DETER VEHICLE OFFENDERS.

A steering wheel lock is a great deterrent against this kind of crime. Car alarms, immobilisers and trackers are also worth investing in. Good quality CCTV equipment covering your driveway is also a deterrent and can give officers valuable footage to assist with apprehending thieves.

We are partnered with Disklok to provide WMNow users with an exclusive 15% discount on their Disklok (yellow model only) and covers/ storage cases. To utilise this offer visit https://www.disklokuk.co.uk/ and enter the code wmpdisk24 in the coupon code box at checkout.
