Keeping your home safe this summer

Summer is just around the corner and, while we enjoy the lighter nights, it’s important not to forget about keeping your home safe.

  • Here are some steps you can take to help keep your home secure from burglars:

  • Close and lock all your doors and windows when leaving the house, even if you’re only popping out for a few minutes

  • Make sure any valuables are kept out of sight of windows and doors

  • Keep bags, purses and wallets away from the letterbox of cat flap, and hide all house and car keys. A thief could hook keys or valuables through even a small opening

  • Never leave important documents or ID in obvious places where they can be easily found

  • Make sure the side gate is locked when not in use

  • Avoid leaving tools or your bike around in your garden – store them in your shed or garage, and make sure you lock those too

  • Set your burglar alarm

  • Visit our website to find more advice for protecting your home.
