Good morning Elmdon,
I’d like to start this message by introducing myself, I am PC Murray and from 4th June I started work as the Designated Neighbourhood Police Officer for the Elmdon area. I have been an active member for the Solihull neighbourhood policing teams for over a year however based in Solihull Town centre. You may recognise me, I was the officer walking around with a big beard.
Over the last working sets, I have been finalising some previous cross over work with my previous roles in order to fully dedicate myself to Elmdon. However, in the meantime, I have been getting out and am starting to familiarise myself with the area. I have had various meetings with key members of the community and hoping to meet as many of you as possible.
Being new to the area, I would happily accept any feedback and hope to learn exactly what I can do to help you in my posting. I already have a few ideas and have began making plans, keep a look out for updates on future messages.
I am currently in the early stages of arranging a second street watch for the area. This would be set up separate to the already running watch and would focus on Elmdon park. Many of you have spoken to me about the issues ongoing at the park specifically with ASB and dirt bikes. I am aware the LEOS neighbourhood team have previously run operations in an attempt to stop and catch the offenders and I hope to arrange some myself.
Please feel free to contact me with issues, concerns or feedback. However, please be aware that this message service is not checked daily. Please DO NOT contact me for emergencies and crime reporting reasons. 999 should be called for emergencies and 101 and the west midlands online page for reporting non-emergency matters.
Please see below a summary of crimes in the area since the 9th June, written by our own PCSO Beard who has been assigned to the area to help and support myself in the local community.
A Land Rover Discovery was tampered with in Eden Road. CCTV footage shows a male gain access to the vehicle and sit inside it for a bit. It’s believed he was trying to steal the vehicle but couldn’t so he left. Another vehicle was tampered with in Jillcot Road, this time a Honda CR-V. Again, the offender was caught on camera entering the vehicle, sitting in it for a time and then leaving. No items reported missing and the vehicle was not taken.
A Toyota RAV-4 was stolen from Valley Road. The keys for the vehicle were not stolen in the process so the offenders most likely used a relay device. The owner’s CCTV also did not record anything at the time the vehicle was taken so it’s possible the offenders were also able to tamper with the CCTV in some capacity. | ||||
