Weekly Round-up!

Good Evening Resident,

Hope your having a lovely week with all this good weather we've been having, but its that time again, all the action in the City Centre from your Wolverhampton Neighbourhood Policing Team, this week we did a lot of work with our partners including Wolverhampton City Council, Wolverhampton Uni and the Wolverhampton Business Improvement District (BID).

Whats Been Happening.

Arrests - 7 arrests made in the city centre this week. Throughout our patrols this week our officers made 4 arrests for theft from stores in the city centre, arrests were also made for the more serious offences such as harassment, drugs offences and also assaulting police officers. Our officers were hard at work to bring these individuals into custody and thankfully with no officers suffering any serious injury.

Community Protection - This week saw our Designated Neighbourhood Officers(DNO) out serving Community Protection Warnings/Notices to individuals who have been creating a nuisance of themselves with the city. The pro-active actions of our DNO's worked very well in our crackdown on anti-social behaviour on Dudley Street.

Community Engagement - This week saw our officers taking part in ASB Awareness Week a national campaign led by Resolve UK to put a spotlight on the impact of anti-social behaviour (ASB) and the importance of safer & stronger communities. Here's a rundown of what our officers got up to.

• Tuesday saw PCSO Wykes and DNO Bellars carried out routine patrols on Dudley Street taking to members of the community about ASB, communicating with businesses to offer reassurance and explain what we are going to be doing to tackle ASB in the area and finally a quick reassurance visit to a shop on Queen Street that had their window smashed in an ASB related incident.
• Wednesday, 4 Officers and our team Sergeant were out and about in the early hours of the morning carrying out plain clothes patrols on Dudley Street, which resulted in a positive impact in getting our high street ready for a days trading. This further built our relationships with local businesses and positively reinforced what we are planning for the future. Later that day PCSO Wykes was back with another ‘Cuppa with a Copper’, this time at the St Peters House coffee shop, all i can say about this is, i loved spending my time there talking to people and listening to all the ASB related issues in the wider area of Wolverhampton. (They've even invited me back for another session).

• Thursday had us doing our extra little bit for the community, joining in two sessions of Community Litter Picking in partnerships with Wolverhampton City Council. The early morning session we has PCSO Spittle out with grabber in hand filling up bin bags as he walked, and the afternoon session was attended by PCSO Wykes, who cleared up around the Molineux. PCSO Shotton carried out a short ASB static patrol within McDonalds as they have been experiencing issues with ASB as of late.

• And finally, Friday, this was our busiest day of the week by far as it signalled the start of our weekend with Night Time Economy patrols. But before that we had DNO Langford attending the morning session of the second day of the Community Litter Pick and PCSO Wykes cracking on with the afternoon session. After getting busy doing her morning session, DNO Langford didn't stop there, she joined up with the Wolverhampton Council ASB team to have a wander through the city, handing out leaflets regarding ASB and thinking up of new ideas on how to tackle ASB with the city centre. The ASB then split into two teams, the first heading to McDonalds on Dudley Street with PCSO Shotton and the second with PCSO Wykes towards the Bus Station, this provided fruitful, handing out leaflets and giving advice in both locations.

Guardian Patrols - As always we are continuing our patrols targeting Anti-Social Behaviour and Violent Crime. These are patrols we carry out multiple times a week, with a positive result on the community. This week targeting St.Peters Gardens, Queen Square, Victoria Street, Sainsburys and Dudley Street.

Night-Time Economy - NTE started with foot patrols throughout the city centre on Friday night, focus was on Dudley Street tackling ASB, bar walkthroughs to observe and offering advice about Violence against women and girls(VAWG) and making sure everyone was having a pleasant night without incident.

What to Watch - Nothing of note this week, we are seeing a bit of an increase in anti-social behaviour so please always remember, if you see something, say something.
