Burglary Keep your home safe during the darker nights The nights are getting darker again and it’s a time of year when we typically see a rise in burglaries. Criminals often take advantage of the cover of darkness and empty homes, so it’s important to stay one step ahead and make sure your property is protected. Lock your windows and doors, even if you’re only stepping out for a short time. Close your curtains or blinds when you leave the house to keep valuables out of sight. Use light timers to give the impression someone is home, especially if you’re out during the evening. Keep car keys away from doors and windows, particularly if you have a keyless entry vehicle. Criminals can use signal-boosting devices to steal cars parked outside. A Faraday pouch is a simple way to block these signals and reduce the risk. If you spot suspicious activity or a burglary is in progress, call 999 immediately. Good Results An arrest has been made of a suspect for drug dealing in the area. The suspect had a large quantity cannabis along with cash and paraphernalia in his car. The suspect and the car are now in police custody.
The team have arrested a number of domestic violence offenders throughout the week. This has been to help our colleagues in the Public Protection unit progress urgent investigations and of course to safeguard the vulnerable victims at the heart of the investigation.
Other good news Morning and Afternoon School Patrols conducted to tackle parking issues. Two vehicles recovered, one abandoned causing ASB in the area and the other abandoned and obstructing a junction to a main road. Officers have been monitoring begging and homelessness around the Warwick Road area, including shoplifting and anti-social behaviour. Weekly Religious faith engagements completed including re-assurance patrols and visits. Successful beat surgery at St Margarets church, thank you to those who came out.
