Investigation launched after man injured in Wolverhampton City centre |
||
Good afternoon, We’ve launched an investigation after a man was shot in Wolverhampton city centre, yesterday. We were called by paramedics to the Peel Street Car Park just before 4.40pm on Sunday 12 October. The 19-year-old was shot in the leg and remains in hospital today with serious injuries. Our officers are working with detectives from the West Midlands Police Major Crime Team, to establish exactly where the shooting happened and to identify those involved. The underpass which leads from Sainsbury’s to Peel Street, underneath the Ring Road, remains closed today while we continue to make enquiries. There will be an increased police presence in the city centre today, and we would urge anyone with information to get in touch via 101, quoting log 2744.
We know violent incidents such as this understandably cause concern amongst local residents and we want to reassure you that we are working hard to identify everyone involved and bring them into police custody.
There’s no place for violence on our streets and we have recently launched a major operation to tackle gang related and violent crime across the city. If you have information that could help our wider operation to make the city safer, call us on 101 today and share whatever you can. | ||
