Partnership Working in Coventry’s Night-Time Economy
On Saturday 22nd November, officers from Coventry Police worked alongside Coventry City Council Enforcement to carry out licensing checks across several venues in the city centre. Chief Inspector Godhania,
During the evening, we engaged with door staff and Designated Premises Supervisors (DPS), ensuring compliance with licensing conditions. Checks included verifying that door staff were wearing their SIA badges, confirming staffing levels, and discussing patron numbers and opening times. This proactive approach helps us understand peak times when people are leaving venues, which is crucial for preventing incidents linked to intoxication.
This joint operation demonstrates our commitment to partnership working, ensuring Coventry remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone enjoying the night-time economy.
In addition, Chief Inspector Godhania responded swiftly to a live incident after reports of a shoplifting on Fairfax Street. Acting on radio intelligence, he located and detained the suspect on Hale Street. The individual was subsequently arrested by response officers. This quick action highlights the importance of vigilance and teamwork in keeping our communities safe. | ||
