Dear Members, Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team. What’s been happening: This last week our team have been supporting our Acocks Green Neighbourhood with patrols around the village regarding concerns being raised by the community. We have been able to proactively engage with the community, stopping those causing us harm which have led to arrests or out of court disposal methods issued. We have also been supporting our Swan Shopping Centre, this has led to stop and searches being conducted and individuals being found with Cannabis and this will now be further progressed. In addition to this, we have been proactively conducting various Arrest attempts for those that are currently wanted in the area. We will be continuing this line of work to reduce any impacts to a person or business. As part of engaging with the community, the team have been out to nurseries and care homes talking about what police do, letting them try our uniform on and engage in various activities suitable for their ages. We have also attended local primary schools supporting and educating students with online safety and local children’s homes. The team have located stolen vehicles and no tax vehicles, and all have been seized with the addition of making successful arrests of those involved with committing Burglaries and thefts in the area. Furthermore, attended a resident meeting on Broadyates Road with a local councillor including attending some addresses and businesses whereby, further concerns were raised and addressed. Some of the concerns were regarding parking in dangerous positions, concerns around areas of a certain time, speeding and other incidents which all will assist us in targeting those areas and putting more practical solutions in place to prevent and reduce the concerns raised.
