Dear Residents
An update from your local Sherbourne Police Team.
CRIME UPDATE
Report of a burglary at Westhill Road. Offender gained entry into the property via the front door. No items were taken.
Report of a theft from motor vehicle in Lavender Avenue. Offender broke into a locked vehicle and stole a wallet and change.
WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING
Vehicle operations have been in progress regarding ghost registration plates. These are reflective number plates designed to evade ANPR. These are illegal and we will prosecute if vehicles are found to have them on.
After reports of suspicious behaviour, officers attended an address where a cannabis factory was found. 70 plants were removed from the property and the factory dismantled. No-one was found to be in the property, enquiries as to who is responsible are ongoing.
We are drawing residents attention to vehicle safety on frosty mornings. Please don’t leave your vehicle running to defrost and go back into your house. Thieves are targeting these vehicles that are left on driveways with the engine running. This type of theft may not be covered on your insurance.
STREETWATCH
We add this information to the message service each week, however, we are now actively looking for Street watch volunteers who would like to join us in a regular patrol of your community. The patrol can be for as long as you are available for on a day of your choosing and is a proactive way of noticing things that need attention where you live. It is also a good way of meeting other residents that want to make a difference in their communities.
GET INVOLVED Street watch is a community patrol initiative that helps you make a difference where you live. Street watch gives you and your community an opportunity to keep your area safe, including just walking round your neighbourhood, which can really help. Local police keep in regular contact with street watch members to share information and work in partnership with you. You will also be patrolling with your local PCSO’s once a month.
