Weekly update from the South Yardley Neighbourhood policing team. |

Dear Members, Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team. It has been a while since we have last updated you all and we apologise on this. This has been due to demand and other commitments. There has been Anti-Social Behaviour taking place in and around the Swan Shopping Centre. We are aware of those involved and have issued ASB warnings. We have a strong relationship with the Swan Centre and are regularly informed of any issues involving ASB or crime taking place, this includes local residential blocks. This has assisted in reducing the ASB in the Swan and local residential buildings. We will continue this line of work and escalate the warnings to the next stage should any breaches take place. Some offenders have been arrested following on from Stop and Searches and have been found to be wanted or have just committed an offence. Our work won’t stop by means of arrest, we work closely with CGL and our O2R scheme to get those involved support with any addictions or habits, this also includes housing and any other matters they may bring to our attention. As a result, 1 has now been over 12 months clean from alcohol and another is currently getting all the support they need. This process takes a lot of time but, has many rewards for those involved, including the local community. We have been assisting our local crime team with searching of premises, resulting into serious weapons being removed and secured to never hit the streets. Keeping our community safe. Parking enforcement before Christmas did see a decline in those parking incorrectly around the Yew Tree. We will continue this where possible and ensuring we are working together to continue to reduce this. Officers have already have issued 47 since the beginning of 2026. The team have also found Stolen vehicles and successfully recovered these. If you see a vehicle that you do not recognise, please send this into us using the below details and we will be able to conduct those checks on those vehicles. During our own patrols we will continue to check for any vehicles that are a cause for concern. We are also aware of vehicles having no tax and some being dumped on certain roads. It is important these are reported to DVLA who will act, including ourselves. We have an important date for you all to store in your diaries this being 21/02/26 1600-1800 hours. This will be a residents meeting at Smokey Barrels. We are still yet to confirm further details regarding the panel. Please save the date and more details will follow. There will be more Business Watches coming up in the coming weeks for the Yew Tree and Swan Shopping Centre all details have been shared and more details to follow for the Yew Tree in the coming days. Empowered Steps will be taking place, and more dates will be shared in the coming weeks. We will share these details soon.
