Hello residents
โ Good News from Your Local Policing Team โ Our priorities are now business crime; this is an issue all over the north east and officers are proactively patrolling the affected areas. We have officers in plain clothes as well as in hi visibility uniform.
Officers are carrying out dedicated retail crime patrols and plain clothes operations to provide reassurance to shop keepers, deter anti-social behaviour and address concerns raised by the community. Alongside these the dedicated retail crime patrols are focusing on supporting local shops, tackling shop theft and working closely with shop staff to prevent repeat offences Hopefully you will have seen some of our neighbourhood officers out this week at various community events across the north of the city in our community police vehicle, officers have attended many events including street briefings, crime prevention road shows and visiting local pre schools and nurseries. Officers are also busy making arests this week saw many one of which was after a vehicle failed to stop for officers, after a short drive and then a foot chase 2 males were in custody on susoision of theft of motor vehicle. the area and vehicle was searched by our dog unit and an amount of what officers believe to be class A, class B drugs and cash were found. enquiries will be ongoing into these matters

They donโt want to be seen or heard by a neighbour or passer-by because they will feel exposed and identifiable. Distraction burglars will pretend to be someone they are not, so itโs important you are aware of the common methods they will use to get you to let them into your property. Hereโs some useful advice, firstly on helping to keep burglars out by giving them no hiding place and, secondly, on how to prevent a distraction burglary. Keep it visibleYouโd think that it would be best to make a property less visible from the street, and to keep it hidden from prying eyes behind overgrown bushes, trees, high fences or walls. In reality, all that this serves to do is make it easier for a burglar to get close to a home unnoticed, and provide somewhere to hide while carrying out a burglary or theft from the property. Lower fences at the front around one-metre high are preferable to high fences as they allow for a clear view over the top and donโt provide cover for anyone wishing to hide. At the rear and sides, taller fencing is recommended to prevent easy access. Trellis, thorny plants, or a suitable anti-climb topping such as plastic spikes make it difficult for anyone climbing over a fence or gate. Planting prickly or barbed shrubbery along boundaries and fence lines acts as an effective natural barrier. Gravel driveways and paths will make sure you hear anyone approach.
