Weekly Round-up! |
||||||||
Good afternoon Resident,
It's that time of the week again to let you know everything that your City Centre teams have been up to, so lets get to it!
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – A total of Ten arrest were made on the city last week, let's take a look at some of these offences. Our officers heading out in the DA car made two arrests in one day with one being for a Domestic Harassment and the other for a Domestic Assault. Another arrest was made outside McDonalds on Dudley Street for failing to appear at court for Criminal Damage. A short foot chase ensued with the offender thinking he would get away, unfortunately for him he didn't take into account the member of the public that decided to sweep his legs for officers to then detain him. A second fail to appear arrest was made alongside two arrests for Theft from Shops and Stalls. An arrest for threaten with an offensive weapon ion public and another for Violent Disorder, which are detailed below in our ‘Other News’ section. Finally the last two arrests were for a Burglary and an Assault.
Community Engagement – This week officers and PCSOs took part in a walk around the city with a group of youths to talk everything about Policing and Anti-Social Behaviour. The time spent together was very enjoyable with the group going away hopefully with more knowledge regarding what we do. In the absence of our very popular Wulfrun Centre events due to other commitments and general demand with calls around the city, Team one held a Cuppa with a Copper session inside Costa Coffee in the Mander Centre much to people delight! Good engagement as always and once again i would like to apologise for the late cancellation of our big Easter event, I know many people were looking forward to this and I'll make sure the next one is well worth turning up for.
Guardian Patrols – Business as usual for our teams during their usual Targeted Guardian Patrols with all going ahead smoothly with no issues in our regular 'hotspot' areas. We were also joined this week by our Guardian Task Force teams for some additional patrols throughout the city, mainly focussing on the Bus and Train Stations.
Night-Time Economy – A quiet one this week during our NTE patrols with nothing of note to report, this possibly being due to it being the week before payday for most people.
Other News - Sunday morning saw Team two officers heading out on early morning arrest attempts to try and bring in some of our outstanding warrants. During the same day some of our officers headed out to assist response officers, after a short vehicle chase and a decamp, officers detained one occupant of the offending vehicle and spent the best part of their afternoon searching for the second male. Unfortunately due to a lack of drone support at the time he was not able to be located, this male is known to us so at some point he will be identified and arrested for outstanding offences. On Saturday 21st we carried out a joint operation with parking enforcement within the city in an attempt to tackle illegal parking during the evenings. It turned out to be a very successful time with Traffic Wardens dishing out 60+ penalty notices!
An extra police presence could be seen within the city on Wednesday for the Prime Ministers visit to Wolverhampton to start of his election campaign. We did have some concerning intelligence come in during the week detailing a group of underage teenagers intoxicated during a Sweet Sixteen birthday party. Parents please advise your children on not only the legal aspects of underage drinking but also the potential consequences of their actions. Reports came in during the week of a violent disorder taking place on Victoria Street with a knife being drawn. Thankfully nobody was injured and after the hard work of our officers trawling through CCTV we managed to arrest two youths for their part in the disorder.
Public Safety Concern - AFTER AN INCIDENT WITHIN THE CITY CENTRE WHERE A TEENAGER HAS FALLEN THROUGH A GLASS ROOF ON WOOLPACK ALLEY, CAN I PLEASE ASK ANY PARENTS TO ADVISE CHILDREN OF SCHOOL AGE ABOUT THE DANGERS OF CLIMBING ON BUILDING AND GENERALLY EXPLORING ANY PLACES THEY SHOULDN'T. THANK YOU.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you look forward to the next one!
