The Hodgehill Neighbourhood Team brings you the following updates:
- Officers from local NHT have secured three separate theft offences in relation to thefts from local shops/stores. Whilst investigating this, all offenders involved have been charged with theft offences after thorough investigations have been conducted.
- Officers and PCSO's from the local NHT have been involved with some partnership work alongside Birmingham City Council, Property Management and other smaller agencies, where residential housing/apartment buildings have been checked for all appropriate licencing, aswell as making sure all health and safety requirements are in order. This day of joint partnership has proved useful in determining the issues local residents face and what solutions can be put in place to alleviate any long term worry or stress when it comes to housing and the surrounding ward. Throughout the day, local NHT have had the chance to speak to local residents and address any concerns that may require police support. Overall, this day was deemed very effective and a great day of partnership with multiple different agencies involved,
- PCSO's from the local NHT, alongside officers from Washwood Heath NHT, have attended the Community Fire Station Open Day, where many different partners were in attendance to engage with the public, interact with the community and answer any questions/concerns they may have. This event had a very large attendance and allowed members of the public to take pictures with officers present, ask them questions about the role of the police and report anything that they may be concerned about. Both PCSO's and officers in attendance were very grateful to be in attendance and hope that further opportunity presents itself to interact with the local community.
- PCSO's from the local NHT have conducted a crime prevention surgery in Tesco Superstore on Coleshill Road. They have been present giving away key crime prevention kit, answering questions from members of the public and providing a visible presence in the store/surrounding area to deter further offending the area. If you ever want to come down to one of these surgeries, keep an eye out for a message for the next event.
- PCSO's from the local NHT have also seized three vehicles this week. Two of these vehicles were seized in relation to no valid road tax. The other vehicle was seized for having no valid insurance and being linked to a separate offence. If you ever see a vehicle that has no road tax/is suspicious in any manner, please report this to 101 so the local NHT can address any potential seizures.
- Junior PCSO graduates from Leigh Primary School have received their graduation certificates this week after a 5 week course of inputs varying from the role of a junior PCSO, all the way to topics of bullying and anti-social behaviour. The students were also out in the local community helping clear up litter and hand out warning letters to drivers parked on zigzag lines. These students have shown their dedication to cleaning up their own communities and we hope as an NHT, we can start more Junior PCSO programs in other schools across the ward. Well done students from Leigh Primary School!
- PCSO's from the local NHT have also been present within Hodgehill and the Bromford making sure everyone is keeping safe, especially the children that are now enjoying the summer term. As an NHT, we will continue to patrol the area to make sure everyone is safeguarded and able to enjoy the time with family and friends.
