Neighbourhood Update

Hello Resident. I hope you’re doing well.

I am Police Community Support Officer Ben Priest here to give you the weekly Neighbour Hood Update.

What has our team been doing?

Our officers have been working with the security team of Newman University, to ticket drivers who are causing parking offences by obstructing the pavement, as well as ticketing those who are obstructing the view of a junction. In the prior days our officers were present in the local area, we have done a total of 84 Tickets and have moved on approximate number of 90 drivers.

Our team are also speaking with Birmingham City Council, Traffic wardens and Highways to see if we can meet up and create a long-term plan what we can hopefully put into fruition, to reduce the demand and problems the obstructive parking causes. But this isn’t a quick fix, so please allow us time to come up with ideas and put them in place.

What’s been occurring in Bartley Green

Since the last WMNOW message, we have received two reports of vehicle interferences. It is good to see that this time the offenders could not get into the vehicle. But we advise you to make sure that the worst-case scenario doesn’t happen. We advise you to make sure your vehicle is properly locked and that all your windows are up and secure. We also advise that you secure your vehicle by investing in a DISK Lock or a Lock for your Handbrake/Gear stick, so that way the offenders are put off about the idea of trying to steal or enter your vehicle if you follow the advice what you have been given.

Since the last WMNOW message, we have received three reports of Criminal damage to private property. We advise you to invest in CCTV cameras such as Ring Doorbells or ones you can set up in your window, or externally outside your home. We then advise that if your property (Home, Vehicle or otherwise) is criminally damaged, you have everything photographed and evidenced with the date and time that it occurred, what item has been damaged, who has damaged (if known). And the valuation of the damage. As this will help our officers be able to investigate the offence what has taken place.

We encourage residents to register their home/business CCTV and doorbell cameras, as this helps us to solve crimes and get a positive outcome, as your CCTV cameras can provide us the appropriate footage what captures the crime in question. This helps us solves crimes but also helps to keep your community safer.
