🚓 Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team Update – What We’ve Been Up To!
Dear residents, Here’s a snapshot of what the Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team have been doing over the last week. Alongside responding to incidents and supporting ongoing investigations, we’ve continued to focus on tackling local issues, engaging with residents and working closely with our partners to make our neighbourhood a safer place for everyone.
So, what have we been up to?
🔹 Our officers attended Bordesley Green, Starbank and Waverely primary schools to deliver information to the children around various important topics, to help them gain an understanding of law and order.
🔹 Safer roads – We partnered up with local traffic officers to issue tickets for road related offences. A zero-tolerance approach was taken; words of advice were given to all that were stopped however this was coupled with a fine and/or penalty points for all those who were stopped. Offences included but were not limited to speeding vehicles, illegal vehicle tints, poor vehicle conditions, lack of tax and insurance.
🔹 Working with the RSPCA – Our designated neighbourhood officers aided RSPCA to seize several animals who desperately required rescuing. Once they were rescued, the animals were placed in protective custody at local shelters to receive essential veterinary care
🔹Numerous officers on our teams offered support to other areas across the West Midlands Police force area. Some of our officers assisted with ensuring that the king’s peace was not breached during a local protest, others assisted with OP MISCHIEF to aid city centre officers to deal with Anti-social behaviour and misuse of fireworks. We also had one of our constables attend the Christmas market in the city centre to ensure that all present were safe and able to enjoy themselves without any fear.
🔹 OP MISCHIEF – During every shift of which our team was on duty after day light hours, we ensured that officers were out on the street and tackling any Anti-social behaviour reports. Special attention was given to those individuals who unfortunately decided to use fireworks as toys, putting their own lives and the lives of members of the public in danger. Our officers were swift and robust when dealing with all reports related to Operation Mischief.
🔹 High-Visibility Patrols – Our officers have been carrying out proactive patrols across the neighbourhood to deter crime, tackle anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to those living and working in the area. This included foot patrols in all of our identified hotspots related to ASB and drugs. We also searched all parks and alleyways within our designated area to remove all harmful items.
Officer of the week award (OOTW): PC WASHBROOK is a fairly new member of the team. His heroics in relation to OP MISCHIEF has earned him a rightful claim to the OOTW award, his bravery in attending incidents involving fireworks and the way he dealt with them both proactively and efficiently was something that he should be proud of.
Every conversation, piece of information and report from our community helps shape our priorities, so thank you to everyone who has taken the time to speak with us.
We’ll continue to be out and about across the neighbourhood, so if you see us on patrol, please come over and say hello. Whether you have a concern, some information to share or simply want to introduce yourself, we’re always happy to have a chat.
Together, we’re making a difference. Thank you for your continued support.
Upcoming events: 🔹Priority Setting Meeting at The Khidmat Centre between 10:30am to 13:00pm
